This is one panel of many I thought I would share. I have 4 pages done already and I dont know how many to go. It depends on how gratuitous I get with the fighting scenes.
Great composition. For some reason I can hear that panel loud and clear. The waves on the shore, the slight armour jangle, sandy muffled clipclop of horses, and the flapping of the flags.
MurrayB said everything I wanted to say in more eloquent words so I'll just end this by saying "NIIIICE!" By the way Mark, have you seen the newest Criterion Collection edition of Seven Samurai? Epic.
Murryb----Hey thanks. it was a bitch in a half to get the look. i spent a lot of time on it maybe even too much. but Im glad it got a reaction. A positive one to boot!
Daveau82---- Niiiiice!!! oh yeah I got it. its awesome! got some new samurai box set too, the trilogy of blood??? its coo to.
emma---- I bow to you. thanks for the gracious complement.
While I was working on our high school graphics with the pirate, an invasion took place. Talk about being under a rock today. This is beautiful, the reflections, the lines, the colors--just gorgeous.
SMacLeod---hopefully I can keep up the pace. Each panel gets more difficult and more ambitious.
Scott Wright----rock and roll man!
Scott Wright----yes. I did the color myself. Yes Image will produce. yes you will have SAMURAI
Mr Scribbles---Im going Im going. of course to me it feel slike Im just getting base hits.
technogreek----I hear ya Demon! Gratuitous it shall be!!!
Balkandude------thanks man. Its all about finding the right shot. Lets hope I can get more of them. its tuff.
AnimatorNickB---- Roger that.
Andrew Glazebrook----Thanks. Im glad its being recieved well. This shit is hard to do. I want back into black and white and tone with line real bad. Going out on a linb here.
SF Guild-----I tip my hat to you m'lady. Now I caution ou. Its gonna get violent here real soon. But in a poetic visual epic kinda way.
I just want to know how you find the time! How much time do you spend on it, Mark?
I'm so glad to have found your blog! It's inspiring to see what you're working on in your free time. Thanks again for all the great advice you gave in your storyboard classes at Calarts.

That looks amazing. This panel in particular reminds me of Kurosawa's Kagemusha, with the ocean...

Extremely cool - did you do the color too? Is Image going to produce? Must have SAMURAI.
Looks absolutely fabulous Mark. You're knockin' it out of the park man. Go man, go!
I would just like to say that I would like it to be as gratuitous as possible. Thank you. :)
