It Begins: and the readers have chosen...

So its going to be Samurai Warlords. Heres one panel of the comic I just finished today. More to come. But not all. I don't want to spoil it.

The two Samurai are equals, and they hate each other. Each thinks he's better. This escalates until they have to duel to prove once and forall whos best.

FIRST PAGE DONE!!!!

Nice! Love the reflections in the bamboo matt. The geek in me is thinking that the Samurai would kneel while shooting their arrows but the fan of your art in me says who cares, that image rocks!!!

rob a.-----Thanks man. Its just begining. There are actually two shooting positions in Kyudo. kneeling and standing. They also sometimes take the bow arm out of the sleeve sometimes. But I probably wont go that way.

Luxo jr----- Thanks. the reflection was fun to figure out.

Jeremy Bernstein---- More coming keep your pants on. I'm going to try for a panel a day. that means 20 panels a month which means 5 pgs a month so in 4-5 mos thats 20-25 pgs. I don't know if the story will be that long but we'll wait and see.

I'll check out the blog and see the scetches. was that thing fun or what?!

As a viewer, I feel engaged with this shot, as if I am sitting right there. The rafters above draw my eye (I lost the other in a bad accident) towards the targets and then the bamboo has a life of its own with the generous shading and gloss. The wall around the image and the arrows continue to draw the viewer towards the targets.

The entire shot is incredible and to be there in person would probably never meet the artwork you have created in this shot.

Now get back to work!! (I am talking to myself.)

MANDREWS, you mad criminal genius! Loved seeing you at the Expo on Saturday. The blog is great, but the live show is 10x better. I think you may have permanently damaged some of their audio equipment.

You and Ronnie and Jason and Jim showed which department is stocking the majority of Pixar's runaway storytelling enthusiasm. Quite inspiring. Keep it up -- You the man.

Congrats on the page done. Only 199 to go.........Speaking of counting down: 99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer, take one down, pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall.....so on and so on until 90 and then everyone died out. We began singing that on little field trips in Solvang (the Danish Capital of America) when we were in 6th grade. I wonder if sixth graders are still allowed to sing that lame song? It was a beautiful time and I must now part and finish that song...98 bottles......

SF Guild----- You are too too kind. But thank you for sharing your feelings. It is always amazing to me how an image can make us feel. It is like you are there watching. And just think It only took me an hour to do that panel. with a couple of tries and failures. I'm glad its a succsess.

Jameson---Expo was a blast. I love a crowd. I sure hope I didn't blow any audio equipment. who knew they'd give me the loud mic??? As for the rest of my story heads and me, we are enthusiastic! Rock and roll!!!

Dave----Thanks man. I'm glad you think so. I'm gong out on a limb on this one. Color. I'm still shaking in my boots. I have a lot of inspiration around so that helps.

Jorge----thanks. I like contrast to. I squint a ot and look at the tones more than color. I'd rather do just all B&W but I gotta sell bookks man. and the kids want color!

AnimatorNickB---- Well check it out I just posted the first pg. lemme know what you think. This graphic flat style may just kill me. Its all I can do not to render the damn thing out.

SF Guild----oh please god, don't tell me I have to do another 100 pg epic. No this one will be more like 20 pgs or less. though I'm leaving room for 25 max. we'll see. I loved singing that song though I got boared somewhere around in the seventies.

You worked with Mike Tracy on Iron Giant, I guess he paints nice trees. he was my background and layout instructor... Samurai story looks great, is the story a parallel on you relationship with Lars, just kidding I know no swede could be a scotman's equal, come on

I think the jute gets little play in the media, jute masters or manrikigusaris would bring more sex to the story

Yumi----I've done archery for years ( when I was younger) and was always fascinated with Japanese archery. When I found this story I had to do it. Dueling with bows? And hell those kyudo archers are deadly. It was a must. I'm glad you approve and keep studying your martial art its awesome!

hojlander --- not to slight Mike Tracy or anything. I've worked with so many great people I can't remember them all. Especially names... however I never forget a face. How'd you guess it was a parallel between the swede and scotsman??? You're so intuitive.

Meesimo---- I hope I can kep the "experiencing" feeling going. and wait 'till you see the arrows hit armor.
